Consistent with the September 9, 2021 Executive Order (EO), which promised to order federal contractors and subcontractors to take additional measures against the COVID-19 pandemic, on Friday, September 24, 2021, the Safer Federal Workforce Task Force responsible for establishing those necessary measures released extensive Guidance on the subject.

Agencies are also encouraged to include the new clause in existing contracts to the extent allowed by law. The new FAR clause will be published by October 8, 2021.

The Guidance requires that contractor and subcontractor employees at all tiers be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 no later than December 8, 2021, with very few exceptions.
