The number of permits for residential housing issued in Marin in 2022 vs. 2021 (January-June period) is up significantly according to a report cited by the North Bay Business Journal. From the period of January to June, 161 single-family units were permitted vs. 95 for the same period in 2021 (+40%) and 21 multi-family units were permitted vs. just 6 in 2021
(+70%). These permits are for single-family homes, multi-family homes, and remodel/alterations.

The total value associated with those permits was $157.7 million, a slight increase over 2021. The value of non-residential building permits issued in the same period declined by over 17%, however, mostly attributed to a lower value of new building.
