    For Immediate Release

The City of San Rafael announced today an expanded partnership with the Marin Builders Association and Marin Economic Forum to help improve the experience for their permit customers. The Permit Improvement Program (PIP) is designed to measure and improve the process for homeowners and building professionals navigating the permitting process.

Phase II of the PIP will dive further into ways the permitting process can be improved and streamlined for the customer.  In addition to collecting data from customer surveys, feedback from focus groups, and findings from one-on-one interviews, data will be collected from City staff on ways to improve customer education and internal efficiency measures. The program will also identify opportunities to improve the City’s website. The final published report will include customer service improvement recommendations as well as a collection of best practices from municipalities across the region. The data analysis and final report is prepared in partnership with the Marin Economic Forum and expected to be available by November of 2022.

“The City of San Rafael is excited to continue our partnership with the Marin Builders Association in identifying ways to improve the customer experience for our residents and our businesses- both in office and online.” said Alicia Giudice, San Rafael’s Community Development Director.

“It’s encouraging to see the City of San Rafael continue their role as leaders in Marin by moving to a Phase II evaluation. It is a testament to their commitment to customers and residents.  We look forward to providing San Rafael an evaluation of how the Community Development department is viewed by customers and help them improve processes” added Rick Wells, Marin Builders Association CEO.

The Marin Builders Association serves the construction industry by promoting high ethical and professional standards and working responsibly with the community for the enhancement of the building industry.
