Join the Center for Architecture + Design in collaboration with the American Institute of Architects, San Francisco (AIASF) and Marin Art & Garden Center where we will be joined by Daniel J. Glenn, AIA, NCARB, Principal, 7 Directions Architects. Daniel will lead the conversation as part of this special Community Builders Series program.
Produced by Ron Chapman (Chapman Productions), From Earth To Sky follows seven diverse Indigenous Architects from North America: the first woman architect in North America, Tammy Eagle Bull, with Wanda Dalla Costa, Alfred Waugh, Brian Porter, Daniel Glenn, Patrick Stewart, and Douglas Cardinal, the first Indigenous architect in North America.
All express the vitality of Indigenous architecture and define their individuality through their artistry, and bond in their philosophy and principles of protecting the planet. The narrative is a beautiful blend of common ground and conflicting points of view, and through the characters’ personal and professional stories, the film articulates Indigenous architecture and its relevance in today’s world. An international movement ignites as they visit New Zealand to collaborate with Maori and Indigenous architects and designers from around the world.
